IMPACT RESISTANT SHINGLES

Rowin Construction exlusively installs Owens Corning Duration Storm shingles. These class four impact resistant shingles feature a patented polymeric backing material that helps absorb the impact from hail.

The shingles also feature a unique fabric strip nailing area that makes the shingles rated for winds up to 150mph.

We install these shingles because we have seen first hand how they perform in front range storms

SYNTHETIC FELT

A common misconception is that shingles protect your home from leaks, but the real protection comes from the felt barrier underneath the shingles. The shingles protect the felt, also called underlayment.

Normal construction companies use 15lb or 30lb felt which has the feeling of construction paper and can tear easily. Our company installs ProArmor Synthetic Felt, which feels more like an expensive windbreaker, resists tearing, and does a great job at repelling water and helps protect your home from leaks.

ICE & WATER BARRIER

Here on the front range we get a lot of snow, and the best way to protect your roof from water damage from ice damming is with an Ice & Water barrier. Surprisingly this is not code required in all areas around Denver, but we always install this very important component.

We choose Weatherlock G Granulated Self-Sealing Ice & Water Barrier. The barrier is glued to the roof on the lowest 3 feet of the slope nearest the eaves, where your gutters are located. Think of this barrier like rubber boots for when you walk in the snow.

VENTILATION

Your roof needs to breathe in order to release moisture and trapped heat. Air enters the roof normally through intakes underneath the soffit, behind your gutters, and exits through the top of your roof either through metal vents or through a vent underneath the ridge cap.

The movement of air needs to be properly balanced through the intakes and exhaust, otherwise you end up with mold and expensive air conditioning bills. Unlike other companies in our industry, we never reuse old existing exhaust vents when reroofing your home.

FLASHING

There are spots on your roof where the shingles end and water can enter the roof if not properly protected. In the roofing industry we use the term flashing, and the important thing for you to know is that we never reuse any of the old flashing on your roof.

On the rakes and eaves of your roof, we install new drip edge and gutter apron flashing to make sure the water flows off the roof propertly, and in the valleys we use that important layer of Ice & Water barrier. Step flashing is used where your roof meets the siding, and all vents are also properly flashed with new meta

RESIDENTIAL

We build your roof the same way we build our own.

If you have an insurance claim on your roof, the insurance the company only owes for what was previously installed or what is required by current building codes. If your insurance the company won't cover the upgrade to impact resistant shingles, synthetic felt, or lce & Water barrier, we still upgrade your roof to those high-quality components at no extra cost to you.
